Several sites are now saying that the 49ers will have seventh or eight pick in the draft.

Cardinals drive” Tarell Brown picks and goes 52 yards for a touchdown. Bartell threw the ball behind Roberts allowing Brown to score.

Cardinals drive: Three and out for the Cardinals. I’ve been focusing in on Bowman and he’s done a decent job, but he often seems to lose his balance, which isn’t good for a linebacker.

David White and I are trying to figure out the 49ers draft position. The best we can figure it fall somewhere between 4 and 7.

From 49ers.com: 20 Questions – CB Tarell Brown

Fourth-year cornerback Tarell Brown is looking to build on a 2009 season in which he totaled 40 tackles and two interceptions. 49ers.com recently caught up with the play-making defensive back to see how training camp is going and to find out more about him.

1. What was it like getting the keys to your city this offseason because of your charitable work?
It was cool; it was definitely an honor. It was something I never expected.

2. Did you receive your own day as well?
Yes I did, June 25 is Tarell Brown Day in Mesquite, Texas.

3. What types of things have you tried to accomplish through your foundation?
We do a lot of giving back. We do camps and we are going to do a food drive this year. We are going to give out some school supplies and we have a few more things lined up. We try to do a lot of things to help out the youth to get them on the right track and give them the opportunities to succeed.

4. You were the punt-pass-kick champion from Texas as a 9-year-old, who would be the punt-pass-kick champion on this current 49ers roster?
I don’t know if anybody still throws the ball besides the quarterbacks. So it would be a toss-up.

5. What’s your favorite part of training camp?
I just like the camaraderie amongst the guys and all the jokes. We come up with stuff to keep everybody entertained.

Tarell celebrates the big 2-5 today. Here’s wishing him a happy birthday and a long career filled with successes!

49ers defense keeps slim playoff hopes alive

The 49ers defense held wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald to only 22 yards receiving on the day. Anquan Boldin had only 40 yards through the air. Cornerback Tarell Brown was proud of how the defense played against a top tier passing attack.

“We give ourselves a lot of credit.  We worked real hard in practice, and we pay a lot of attention to details,” Brown said after the game. “Every day, we’re focusing a lot harder, and you can see it in all the guys.  We just want to go out there and show the world that we’re one of the top defenses in the league.”

This was the 49ers’ defensive players’ opportunity to scream to the heavens that, yes, they are the determining factor in this team’s success, and yet they passed. No boasting, no chest-thumping, no “We always we knew we could make the Arizona Cardinals leave the ball on the ground seven times.”

There was a hint of “Monday Night Football” Syndrome, though, as best presented by nickel back Tarell Brown.

“We’re the only ones playing, the whole league is watching us, and it was good for us to show them what we could do,” he said after he and his mates put a breathtaking beatdown upon the Cardinals in San Francisco’s 24-9 victory Monday night. “We wanted to show we were good, that we could make a difference, and we did that.”
